it was ok.. friend made me watch it, purely cos of christian slater, who isnt that great in this. its all a bit weird, there are some kinda funny bits n some that are really not..

For everyone who has ever watched a Hollywood revisionist history 'TRUE STORY!!!!' film and hated it for it's revisionist version of history, this satire is for you. It won't make you crack up laughing every five minutes, but it's definately worth a look.

Let's be honest, it is weak in parts, just ridiculous in others and the whole thing feels like a guilty pleasure. But it is funny, and at 80 minutes, never outstays its welcome. No funnier than an extended tv sketch, but there are plenty worse ways of spending an hour and a half.

I bought this film with no expectations at all. Simply because it looked so stupid it had got to be funny. Christian Slater and Neve Campbell both do fantastic jobs of sending up the whole concept of the USA stealing UK glory and most of the cast do an incredible job. Whilst it's never going to win any academy awards for acting or script, if you have a sense of humour, you are most certainly going to have a blast watching "The Hollywood Years". Stand out supporting performances include Harry Enfield as King George V and Antony Sher as Hitler. Give it a try and you will probably be very surprised at how good this film actually is.
