Children Underground follows the story of five street children, aged eight to sixteen who live in a subway station in Bucharest, Romania. The street kids are encountered daily by commuting adults, who pass them by in the station as they starve, swindle, and steal, all while searching desperately for a fresh can of paint to get high with.

The fallout of Ceausescu's oppression of his own people left tens of thousands of homeless children in the city centers of Romania. This is the story of five of these children. Intimate and disturbingly honest.

It's the best documentary I've ever seen! Amazing piece of work, which tugs at the heart-strings. It makes me want to fly down to Romania & adopt Mihai.

welcome to Romania. this film very effectively conveys the stark political and social realities in it's post soviet condition.
