Beautiful story, beautiful music. The story pulls you in so deep that you forget you are watching animation. Brilliant!!

QuÃ (C) hermosa cinta, no sÃ³lo en la construcciÃ³n de la historia sino en el diseÃ±o de arte. Movimientos suaves, precisos y un colorido que le imprime ese sabor latino, ademÃ¡s de la selecciÃ³n de la mÃºsica que le da una singular belleza y tono cachondo y romÃ¡ntico a toda la trama. Muy agradable visualmente. Una joyita escondida en los rincones.

Like an animated precursor to "Buena Vista Social Club", "Chico y Rita" is a love/hate story surrounded by the Cuban music scene of the 50's and 60's. Straightforward as the story is, the beautiful music and the colorful animation is what takes it further. Anyone interested in jazz/cuban music of the time must seek this out.

Wonderfully evocative of late 40's Havana and New York, and featuring guest appearances by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Herman, Thelonious Monk and Nat King Cole, this romantic adult animation is definitely not for kids, but thoroughly enjoyable and absolutely sensational for everyone else. And it makes me want to run out and get the soundtrack. It's loaded with music.
