S'il serait abusif de le comparer à un "Journal de Bridget Jones" à la française, "Chercher le garçon" fait néanmoins partie partie de ces micro-productions qu'on qualifierait volontiers de "régionale", qui sont maladroites et inégales mais aussi pleines de spontanéité et de charme, et dotées d'un ton et d'un esprit très éloignés des comédies hexagonales grand-public. On ne découvrira ni véritable scénario ni véritable enjeu derrière les rencontres successives de cette trentenaire qui cherche l'amour sur un website genre Meetic, mais plus simplement une énumération d'anecdotes, de mecs un peu barrés, de découvertes imprévues et de déconvenues, qui se ferment surl un happy-end romantique inutile qui déboule de nulle part. Tout cela est très mineur ; ça n'apporte pas grand chose au cinéma, ni à la dissection des nouvelles méthodes de drague mais "Chercher le garçon" est frais et a au moins le mérite d'exister.
