Bubba Ho-tep (2002)

The "true" story of what really became of Elvis Presley. We find Elvis as an elderly resident in an East Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his "death," then missed his chance to switch back. He must team up with JFK and fight an ancient Egyptian mummy for the souls of their fellow residents.

this film is so wierd its good. it stars bruce campbell as an ageing, and alive, elvis in a run-down retirement home which is under attack from a soul-sucking mummy who feeds on the sleepy. it also features a black JFK (?) with a chocolate ding dong

If you wanna laugh your ass off this one will surely do the trick! An old Elvis in a nursing home...hahahaha...with a old black guy who thinks hes JFK...hahahahaha..do battle with a mummy in a cowboy hat and boots...hahahahahaha....this is so stupid its funny!! Great movie!!

Bubba Ho-Tep is a terrific horror comedy. Based on an excellent and highly original short story, it is one of the best horror comedies ever made -- ranking with, yet very different from, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein and Shaun of the Dead. The always brilliant Bruce Campbell portrays an aging Elvis in a performance worthy of an Oscar, if only the Academy considered low budget horror films in giving out its awards. And Ossie Davis as JFK -- what can I say about such a brilliant casting choice and a great actor going out on a high note in his final role. Great movie! Great fun!

An elderly Elvis and a black JFK, confined to the same rest home, take on a soul sucking mummy. Take a minute and let that sink in. I mean, I don't even know where to start. Bruce Campbell as Elvis is spot on, laying in bed reminiscing until he finds something to live for. Ossie Davis has the perfect balance of passion and crazy to make you believe, if only for a second, that he is JFK. Bob Ivy does a fantastic job as the villain. I'm not really sure what genre to call this, it has a mummy so there is an obvious horror aspect. But the story line that develops between Elvis and JFK and the chemistry they share is a very compelling drama. Then again, you have elderly Elvis and a black JFK fighting a mummy dressed as a cowboy so it is hard not to call it a comedy. In the end it doesn't really matter to me, it is still a great film.
