Brothers (2004)

A Danish officer, Michael, is sent away to the International Security Assistance Force operation in Afghanistan for three months. His first mission there is to find a young radar technician who had been separated from his squad some days earlier. While on the search, his helicopter is shot down and he is taken as a prisoner of war, but is reported dead to the family.

recently remade with tobey maguire, jake gyllenhall, and natalie portman, watching this now after ive seen the remake its interesting to remember how faithful the remake was. this film is a well told story involving a guy going to war, presumed dead, and then him returning home, whilst inbetween the emotions of his family, especially his wife, dealing with griefe, and his brother trying to make good. all concerned are very watchable, and again danish director susanne bier, proving shes got a lot to offer

Has to be my favourite all time movie - a little on a tough side. a great realistic story about human emotion and how circumstances can affect our lives. The ultimate reminder that we really do not understand how we will react in extreme situations and hence we should not judge others...
