Krasinski stitches these raw blasts of the subconscious with interludes that exude a pleasing, Woody Allen-esque tone, all fall colors and potent theorizing over white wine

An intellectual piece of various men from various perspectives and their views on dating and relationships. Pretty fair piece and listening to all of the views points, and you can tell that Krasinski is a very talented writer/actor, but since the piece plays out as a stage play and very much for the brain set, didn't connect with it as much as I could since it went for the brain and not so much the heart.

I suppose this is an interesting attempt but it is not very good. It's a huge mess structurally, overly staged, and lacks the compassion by which Wallace treats even his most flawed characters. Maybe you can't really make a movie out of the his Brief Interviews monologues/ stories but you can make a less literal minded one than this. Among the many mistakes the film makes is its attempt to give some character to the anonymous woman interviewing the men. However, she really just comes off a blank cipher making her a structural device rather than a person. Why does she date "hideous men" if she's so intelligent? What led her too this stage in life? If you are going to introduce her into the monologues, then she at least should be less generic.

It just didn't work for me. It didn't pull me in and I never got interested in the characters or plot or anything.

Rather intense dialogue wise, kind of theatric (in the sense that there is not much action). Definetly an excellent debut for Krasinksi as a director.
