Essentially a French take on Buffy/Blade etc, this is one of those films that despite its obvious flaws is impossible not to like. It's not as slick as it could be and the fights aren't great, but there are some fantastic, innovative ideas here and excellent characters.

I won't comment much on the film itself, as other reviews here have pretty much said it all. I just wanted to add a personal story that I will always remember about this film. I was in Paris when the film opened in the summer of 2002, and all the advertising boards along the Champs-Elysees were decked out with posters for this movie. The tag line, which, not surprisingly, never turned up in any of the American advertising, was "Fuck Evil".
