Police Detective Hoshino (Kanji Tsuda) investigates the murder of a maid at a mansion belonging to Miyako Rozmberk (Sugimoto), a seductive vampire mistress and "cougar" all in one. Ukyo Kuronuma (Jun Kaname), an Edo-era swordsman who was turned into a vampire by Miyako is fingered for the crime but before anything can be done about it Hoshino ends up under Miyako's spell as well. This leads Hoshino and Ukyo to battle one another for the privilege of staying with Miyako for eternity.

This is an artsy vampire movie. The stark color contrasts and the lighting lend it an air of sophistication that the story just doesn't live up to. The story is a basic feud between two vampires, formerly lovers, and a thirst to be free of that cumbersome life. A detective of cold cases gets caught in the middle. The blood effects are well done, and there is quite a bit of nudity - more than I've seen in many Asian movies. The acting is merely okay. Overall, it is an average movie.

A vampire chick flick with some chanbara. It's far too drama-heavy to be of much interest to action or horror fans.

Very MEH mix of a vampire love triangle and wire-fu. Aya Sugimoto in her various states of undress kept me watching to the end. Nothing special at all.

Blood is a Japanese erotic horror film with a unique vision. The story follows a police detective that gets caught up in a feud between two former vampire lovers. The visual style of the film is quite exceptional, and carries an interesting Gothic and surreal motif. However, the script is rather poor and the acting doesn't do anything to help. While Blood has an interesting take on vampirism, it doesn't have a story to go with it.
