Black Death (2010)

As the plague decimates medieval Europe, rumours circulate of a village immune from the plague. There is talk of a necromancer who leads the village and is able to raise the dead. A fearsome knight joined by a cohort of soldiers and a young monk are charged by the church to investigate. Their journey is filled with danger, but it's upon entering the village that their true horror begins.

Was fortunate to see this movie via Apple TV before it hit the theaters. Great entertainment that's as real and dark as Dark Ages and pestilence were.

Unrelentingly violent, not just physically, but psychologically and spiritually, this is a rare film about one of the darkest periods of human history. In addition to being superbly evocative of the Dark Ages of Europe, it powerfully examines the notions of God, punishment, faith, guilt, religion, penance and demagoguery at the height of the power of the Roman Catholic Church. Embellished with superior acts by Sean Bean and Eddie Redmayne, a haunting score and some gritty hand-held photography, the movie succeeds admirably at creating a fetid, morbid, diabolical atmosphere without lapsing into camp. This is how historical movies should be.

what can i say this movie had everything I look for in a movie good acting from the likes of actors like Sean bean. a storyline that has everything from love and death to the devil himself. its an awesome movie from start to finish and i've seen it like five times already and more to come please see this movie
