It appears to think its clever. I was completely bored the entire movie.

I think setting this up as a "horror" movie was a mistake in that it set people's expectations on something that the movie isn't. If it had been billed as a thriller or something, I suspect the reviews would be better. This is not a horror movie per se, although in one sense it is more horrific than any slasher movie because, unlike Vampire attacks or something similar, this could conceivably happen in real life. I thought the acting was outstanding and and the cinematography was pretty interesting.

Impressive. Bitter Feast offers so much. A depressed and angry food critic held prisoner and tortured, a celebrity chef gone insane, and a remote house in the woods for where the torture can begin. Bitter Feast is a real treat. The characters are dark and multi-layered, and lack morals only thinking of themselves and their 'mission'. James LeGros is absolutely amazing. He plays creepy well. Perhaps too well haha. His blank stare gives chills, and his methods of torture were original to say the least. Bitter Feast must be seen. One reason is for the great characters and struggle, the other is to demonstrate exactly what can be done with great writing, characters, and a low budget.

Bitter Feast is like a meal that begins with a tasty, light appetizer, but winds up with a too-heavy dessert that makes you wish you hadn't taken that last bite.
