Anyone familiar with the rise of horror cinema from Italy in the early 70's (giallo to the film buffs), will love the care and attention to the look, and primarily the sound, in the styling of this movie. Toby Jones is an English sound technician, more used to working on documentaries on the British countryside. He gets called to Italy to perform the mix on an Italian horror film. What he sees in the company, and subsequently on the screen, slowly disturbs him more and more. Brilliantly handling some extremely gruesome horror, without showing you anything (it's all with the sound), we witness a mans mental decline. Some may find the ending not to their taste, but is still a great mood piece and is an education for those who have never heard of a 'foley artist'.

An amazingly and atmospheric surreal experience with a brilliant meta-ficcional twist that does a great job at paying homage to the 70's italian horror cinema while subverting it's rules every step of the way. A movie that stays with you long after you have finished watching it. The more it plays on your head the more powerfull and stimulating it will appear. The end is somewhat open to interpretation, but I have made mine. SPOILERS: With the risk of ruining anything, I will say that I believe it to be a movie within a movie within yet another movie in which the unsuspected sound engineer is the star of a psychological cinematic documentary experience without his knowledge or consent.
