Emotionally shattering and brutally taxing to watch, Bandit Queen is suffering sculpted into art. India is shot in poetic sadness, and the acting is superb. The movie leaves the viewer in both the vulnerable aftermath of human failing but also in the endurance of hope.

based on a very interesting, true story... this movie is slightly disturbing; the rape and abuse scenes really upset me (so much to the point where i had to fast forward certain scenes), but it was a sobering reality.
