Bad News Bears (2005)

Morris Buttermaker is a burned-out minor league baseball player who loves to drink and can't keep his hands to himself. His long-suffering lawyer arranges for him to manage a local Little League team, and Buttermaker soon finds himself the head of a rag-tag group of misfit players. Through unconventional team-building exercises and his offbeat coaching style, Buttermaker helps his hapless Bears prepare to meet their rivals, the Yankees.

Certain things in this world are automatically funny, and a booze-swilling Billy Bob Thornton cussing out kids is one of them.

Let's face it, kids can't act. Thornton pays a good homage to Walter Matheau but beyond that it sucked.

Updating of the 1970s mini classic has the right guy to play the Matthau role who leads a rag tag team of losers during the little league season. Adds some new material that works, although it?s the fact that the filmmakers had to remove elements from the original that has the most ironic touch of all.
