Imagine walking down the street and finding an unmarked VHS tape. Curiosity piqued, you take it home and pop it in. What starts off as two men screwing around with a video camera quickly transforms into an ultra-realistic torture sequence where the unidentified psychopaths tape their exploits as they torment and violate a woman tied to a chair. WOW, this movie isn't for the faint of heart. It is by far the most realistic false snuff film too date. Though it isn't very graphic as far as gore (mainly due to camera work). The way it was shot makes you really believe it was real, and the acting was great considering it was their first feature.

an independent horror masterpiece! director Fred Vogel created something so brutal, shocking and completely frightening with almost no budget and a lot of creativity. "august underground" proved that horror could still grab you by the throat and kick your balls in after the painful "hollywood horror" we were all subjected to during the 90s. "august underground" has yet to be topped and probably never will. cheers to mr. vogel

Where the "Guinea Pig" series started the "Faux Snuff" movie phenomana, August Underground masters it! Extremely convincing special effects and very well thought out movie in the fact it does everything to convince you that this is a home made snuff movie, August Underground takes you on a brutal journey through the lifes of two serial killers. You will see some horrific scenes of torture and killing that will make you sick to the stomach but it can not be denied that this movie is a horror masterpiece!
