Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies (2016)

Steve, a young professional snowboarder, ruins a high-paying photo shoot by playing a silly prank. He, his girlfriend Branka and fellow snowboarder Joschi are left behind on the mountain. They seek shelter in an après-ski tavern that is hosting an all-night party. Things go from bad to worse when a scientific experiment unleashes an epidemic of zombies and mutant wildlife. This is mostly lost on the local drunkards, as they are not always easy to distinguish from zombies themselves. But Steve, Branka and Joschi have to find a way to survive this hellish night.

This low-budget spoof will appeal to devotees of the zombie genre, but ultimately it's too amateurish to stand out from the staggering crowd.

Just when I thought I had seen every possible gag, there's a new film to prove me wrong. That new film is of course Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies and the various gags include ski poles to eyes, zombie deer, decapitation via snowboard, and many, many more. By using snowboarding tricks to create unique and memorable action, it's easily the freshest take on the zombie comedy genre in quite a few years. Horror fans will be delighted to see the numerous and gory practical effects, while comedy fans will revel in its clever physical humor. If you need a fun film to get the friends together then look no further than this crazy Austrian adventure.

I am not surprised at how much love Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies is receiving! I thought it was a perfect flick for your typical movie night, or even something to cuddle up to on date night. This film is quirky in its' attempt to bring light on a life or "undead" situation, while at the same time gushing with some of the most creative zombie deaths for any blood thirsty movie-goer. From decapitations, to shredding zombie limbs into a wood chipper, this film did it all. I was impressed with the ski poles jabbed into the zombie's eye sockets, and felt it was beyond worthy to be featured on "1000 Ways to Die". Even in the midst's of all the shocks and surprises of gooey horror, it wasn't long before the cast had me bursting with smiles again. I really enjoyed this film personally, it brought something new to this genre.

I'm a regular film-goer but my go-to is usually a romantic comedy so Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies was a dramatic change of pace. All in all, it was a refreshing spin on the traditional zombie movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. The storyline begins when a science experiment intended to create snow backfires and sparks the beginning of a zombie apocalypse. Meanwhile, a couple of teenagers are hitting the slopes in the Austrian Alps and an innocent prank eventually leads to them becoming deserted in a ski resort and engaging in a bloody brawl against the undead to try to stay alive. I really enjoyed the chemistry between the two major heroes, Laurie Calvert and Gabriela Marcinkova, which depicted a foolish boy trying to win back his beloved all the while slaying and decapitating zombies with his killer snowboarding skills. The characters really made the movie all the more enjoyable with their countless remarks full of wit and puns and had me laughing from beginning to end. I can now call myself a zom com fan.

As a zombie-comedy fan I was thoroughly entertained by Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies. For someone who appreciates dry humor I was able to catch all the puns which kept me laughing the entire time. Don't be entirely fooled, for horror enthusiasts there's plenty of blood and guts for you. In-addition, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of special effects used in all the bloodshed. To get a better idea of what this is all about, the movie combines the humor from "Shaun of The Dead" and the gruesome horror from "Dead Snow."
