Arachnophobia (1990)

A large spider from the jungles of South America is accidentally transported in a crate with a dead body to America where it mates with a local spider. Soon after, the residents of a small California town disappear as the result of spider bites from the deadly spider offspring. It's up to a couple of doctors with the help of an insect exterminator to annihilate these eight legged freaks.

I really enjoyed this movie but didn't find it as creepy as many others would have. Simply for the fact that spiders don't phase me in the slightest. However, there are some brilliant moments in this movie, some jumpy sequences and some standard 80's horror movie acting. One bit pissed me off though, with the rat. I looked it up and it's a known goof but i don't like the fact it's glaringly obvious in the shot. However, I'll forgive the movie for doing a "Jaws" and attempting to make the masses scared of creepy crawlers.

The greatest spider movie ever made. It is my belief that everyone is sort of afraid of spiders, since their sole purpose is to trap things in its bodily fluids and watch it die and then eat it. The cast is great, especially the scene stealing John Goodman as Dilbert the Exterminator. The jump scares can really get you, especially the shower scene. I have had that happen to me before. I was on the toilet and noticed a spider on the ceiling of the shower. I am glad I saw it before I went in. A great horror thriller with no CGI and and makes it extra scary with good puppetry and real spiders.
