At 14, best friends Robb Reiner and Lips made a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, hailed as the "demi-gods of Canadian metal" influenced a musical generation that includes Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now in their fifties, set off to record their 13th album in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dreams.

sjajan, zabavan, ali nadasve dirljiv dokumentarac o simpatiÄ?nim heavy metalcima zaÅ¡lim u pedesete, iskrenom prijateljstvu i djeÄ?aÄ?kim snovima. neÅ¡to ala "this is spinal tap", samo s autentiÄ?nim likovima.

A great documentary about two things that go together extremely well: heavy metal and male bonding. This movie really is like a real-life SPINAL TAP, and it will inevitably draw comparisons to it, as this is about a band (Anvil) that has a sound from a bygone era of music that is now seen in a more humorous light, and it shows us the trials and tribulations that the band goes through as they relentlessly pursue that elusive success they crave. Plus their drummer's name is Robb Reiner. It's easy to make fun of the guys in Anvil, however I find their "never say die" attitude to be inspiring. These are guys that are never giving up on their dreams, and that alone demands respect, more so than someone who gives up what they love in favor of something deemed practical by their peers. This movie is what heavy metal is all about, I'll be very surprised if I see a better movie this year.

I had never heard of Anvil but shortly after hearing about this movie I heard "666" and was like "wow how did these guys not make it!?" So that was the driving force to me renting the movie and I must say it really is one of the best documentaries I have seen in a long time because it deals with real people that you see through out the film and the guys deserve a ton of respect. It is funny, it gets sad, but the end show in Japan is very heartwarming. Even if you are not a fan of metal music I would highly recommend this movie.

Well worth watching even if you weren't a fan in 80's hair metal days. All about believing in the dream and the background story could almost be Disney!
