Anita (2009)

Anita is the story of a young woman with Down syndrome who lives a happy, routine life in Buenos Aires, being meticulously cared for by her mother Dora. One tragic morning in 1994, everything changes when Anita is left alone, confused and helpless after the nearby Argentine Israelite Mutual Association is bombed (the deadliest bombing in Argentina's history). As Anita wanders through the city, she learns not only to care for herself, but touches the lives of those around her, from an alcoholic to a family of Asian immigrants.

I truly enjoyed the film. It's inspiring, touching and yet unexpectedly funny. Simple story but awesome acting.

Much of the credit is due to Ms. Manzo, whose performance is so authentically realized that it eclipses Carnevale's uneven art design and occasionally clunky camerawork.

It's different. A movie about a Spanish woman with Down Syndrome who is left alone after a horrible incident. It's also sad and funny at imes.

An awful tragedy told in a sweet, tender way. Anita is a young woman with down syndrome. After a horrible incident, Anita is separated from her mother and is left to wander the city alone armed with her innocence and her smile.
