Bleak, gentle, thoughful. Inspiring and depressing at the same time.

It tackles the difficult story of changing relationships between father and son and succeeds because the actors rose to the occasion. This was in no small part to Tucker's masterful direction; Broadbent's character of Arthur is both endearing and repulsive in equal measure and Firth and Beard's peformances are the key to unearthing these different sides of him. Without wanting to ruin the end, I've never been that close to crying during a film in a very long time; absolutely brilliant and worthy of award recognition.

A very touching film and brilliant acting by Jim Broadbent. So non Hollywood film with superior script. And of course I can't take my eyes off Coliiiiiiin. A quality film which I hope will be shown here in Jakarta, or at least JIFFEST should consider bringing it into the country.

A great portrayal of father/son relationships. Made me call up my dad just to say hi right after watching this. As always, Firth and Broadbent have great performances.
