"And They're Off ..." has its moments but not quite enough to carry it across the finish line. I say SKIP IT!!!

I wanted to like this movie but Its just not there. For this kind of movie to work the writing needs to be really really good, unfortunately it isn't.

For a mockumentary to work, the writing has to be spot on. But the script by Alan Grossbard, who shows a fond familiarity with, if not great insight into, the racing milieu, has too many half-baked characters and goes soft just when it should get sharp.
