American Hot Wax (1978)

This is the story loosely based on Cleveland disc jockey Alan Freed, who introduced rock'n'roll to teenage American radio audiences in the 1950s. Freed was a source of great controversy: criticized by conservatives for corrupting youth with the "devil's music"; hated by racists for promoting African American music for white consumption; persecuted by law enforcement officials and finally brought down by the "payola" scandals.

One of, if not the best rock and roll movie. The end concert is not to be missed.

Damn this ended up being a pretty good film. Laraine proved she could do drama and not just live comedy. Jay Leno was surprisingly good and everybody else just played it good.

I dont' understand why this movie isn't famous. it should be a classic. It's characters are hilarious and it's plot is unique.

A fascinating look back at the hey day of 50s rock and roll and the man most responsible Alan Freed. This film features performances by many of the original artists who were at Freeds legendary Rock and Roll Show which was the woodstock or lollapaloosa of the 50s. Any fan of music should enjoy this toe-tapping treat(damn that sounds lame).WATCH FOR: a young Jay Leno and an even younger Cameron Crowe.
