After the Promise (1987)

Elmer Jackson, a carpenter in a small Californian town in the 1930s, struggles to bring up his 4 young boys after the death of his wife. He is horrified when the government (citing trumped-up charges of parental neglect) places the boys into various foster homes and institutions, unaware of the abuse that boys would then be subjected to. The conditions imposed by the court and the difficulties caused by the Depression make Elmer's determined and vigorous quest to find his boys extremely difficult. His second wife helps him to regain custody.

I cry everytime I watch this movie. It's the most frustrating, horrible, sad and true story I've ever seen.

This is one of the very few movies that have affected me in life. I watched it in high school days and fell in love with it. I still remember the day I watched it on TV. My friend and I watched it separately and cried. The last scene broke my heart and I just lost it! Have not watched it after that but it has stuck with me over all these years. My most favorite movie of all time. The actors and the director have done a great job. Knowing that it's based on true events makes it even more touching. My prayers are with the Jackson family members wherever they are.

Without a doubt, one of the most incredible movies I've ever seen... ever! Definitely in the, idk, top 2 at least. :) I get the worst headache after I watch this movie because of all the crying I do.
