There was a danger here that [director Magali] Pettier could have made a glossy film for townies in search of escapism, but she does not shy away from showing the downsides of the farming life.

Wonderful film: fascinating and absorbing. A documentary about tenant farmers raising Swaledale sheep in the north Pennines doesn't sound very exciting, but it manages to be completely gripping all the way through, beautifully observed, clear-sighted, and often funny. One of the best and most enjoyable documentary films I've ever seen.
