As the movie brings up many times, we are the first generation grown up in divorce in the history of civilization. It's a unique position for our species, whose long-term impact remains to be seen, and a fertile ground to base a film around which surprisingly hasn't been explored too often. Adult Children of Divorce, or A.C.O.D., attempts to do this, but isn't supremely funny or particularly enlightening on the matter. Adam Scott is one of my favorites, and this is only his second leading role in a movie. He is solid, as is the all-star supporting cast, yet they're not used to their full extent or given material to really sink into. A.C.O.D. deserved a better fate than its blink-and-you-miss-it theatrical release, and overall makes for a decent rental, but misses the opportunity to do something special.

An original approach on talking about the effects of divorce on grown up relationships. It was funny and insightful, but not enough meat to make it a great movie.

In spite of good intentions, A.C.O.D. fails to capitalize on its compelling 'Adult Children of Divorce' platform to present viewers with equally captivating insights.

There's an undertone of score-settling to this not-so-romantic comedy, a bitterness that's sometimes unpleasant and sometimes wickedly funny.
