A movie comedy that is funnier in performance than it ever was as a script.

I've reached a point in my life where I've fully realized that reviews don't mean crap on here. This movie has been consistently named one of the worst of 2013, and I was very hesitant about watching it. I was extremely surprised to discover that this movie is exceptionally good as a black comedy. I connected with it and found the acting very on par and the pacing was perfect. My only complaint is that the ending was very rushed and confusing. But as far as what the reviews have shown, all that's been proven is that a ton of people either followed the crowd and poorly reviewed this to ride the bandwagon, or just don't know a thing about what makes a good film.

A well acted indie comedy featuring a great soundtrack. I'm a sucker for comedy, indie films and indie music. Mash it all together and you've got quite an entertaining movie. This is not slap stick or absurd comedy. The humor is in the characters and dialogue. Adam Scott's understated acting style fits his role perfectly. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors. It's unusual to see an actor that does mostly comedies that can bring such a sense of realism to the screen.

It had an interesting concept, good acting performances and some good moments, but it wasn't very funny, there were a few plot holes and the ending was unsatisfying.

I really didn't know much about this movie before I watched it. So I didn't expect much either. But it really exceeded my expectations with an on-the-nose cast and the ironic humor. Providing just enough background on Carter's (Adam Scott) childhood, there is a good balance between the effect of the divorce on his past, and the effect it has on his choices in the present.
