A Perfect Day (2015)

Somewhere in the Balkans, 1995. A team of aid workers must solve an apparently simple problem in an almost completely pacified territory that has been devastated by a cruel war, but some of the local inhabitants, the retreating combatants, the UN forces, many cows and an absurd bureaucracy will not cease to put obstacles in their way.

An interesting movie about war. Instead of seeing the gory parts you get to experience the day in some aid workers who are just trying to get a fat dead guy out of a well fighting the beauracracy of UN peacemakers (blue helmets). Good and funny in some parts but it's really slow developing in most parts. Damned mined cows!

An apparently easy task some peace operators in the Ex Jugoslavia have to take on, is the starting point in showing the atrocity of one of the most terrible wars of the last 20 years. The film is very light, although the topic could make you think of it as very harsh to watch.

If black humor set in a recent historical context is your thing, then this movie is a refreshing treat, but be forewarned, the humor is raw and at times grisly, but the wit smacks real

There's not much of a story, which wouldn't be bad if there was something other than blasts of music filling the longueurs.

Robert Horton 10 Feb 2016

The movie's got a great concept, and Benicio Del Toro is terrific, but the black-comedy tone feels off from the very beginning.
