Terrific cast with solid acting... the story of three wives wondering which of their husbands a fellow socialite has run off with. The story was interesting enough to keep you guessing until the end (and apparently after for some as the ending has been misinterpreted, according to the DVD commentary.)

I love love love this film. Linda Darnell is superb, as it the rest of the cast ... but she is the cat's pajamas. It's astounding what Mankiewicz was able to get past the censors in this film, and it has aged so well. I've always loved All About Eve ... this film is just as great!!!! If you like classic hollywood, this is a must see.

Mankiewicz's plot device is brilliant and intriguing: On the way to an annual picnic, three housewives learn through a letter that the town's most desirable woman had run off with one of their husbands--flashbacks reveal the state of their marriages.

Joseph L. Mankiewicz was a brilliant filmmaker, and this is one of his best. Of the cast, the real stand out is Linda Darnell, who was never appreciated as much as she should have been. In the end, the true romance of the film is surprising, but lovely.

Jean Crain and Ann Sothern are wonderful, but it's Linda Darnell that makes this one a must-see. Her character is never static and you're never quite sure if you love her or hate her... One thing for sure, you'll see more than a glimpse of Miss Darnell's spectacular talent.
