A really good movie, about two people who like each other, but are scared to take the chance and make that committment.

Jean Arthur is adorable, but I'm not sure she has much chemistry with The Duke. The movie lacks the charm and wit needed for a lightweight rom-com.

War era comedy is nice turn for John Wayne, co-starring radiant Jean Arthur.

This is really a combination of a lot of different genres and has interesting moments, it just doesn't really go anywhere. The only praise I have for it is John Wayne, he still manages to be charming and cool. I think it fails mainly in that it takes the perspective of Jean Arthur's character when she really isn't all that strong.

Way, WAY overlooked romantic comedy of the war era. Unlikely good chemistry between the two stars and anyone who believes John Wayne couldn't act should check out the haystack scene. Wonderful comic timing and as natural as the best male screen comic actors. Dying is easy, comedy is hard.
