Jefferson Steel, a washed-up Hollywood action star, is desperate to revive his flagging career. When his sleazy agent signs him up for what he believes is a high-profile Royal Shakespeare Company production of King Lear at Stratford upon Avon, Steel thinks he has finally landed the plum role he has been waiting for. However, he soon discovers that he has been tricked into joining an amateur dramatics group for a charity production.

a very flat, dated and lazy comedy. Despite the names of Derek Jacobi, Imelda Staunton and Burt Reynolds, A Bunch of Amateurs is an extremely missable comedy. With no single laugh out loud moments, Burt Reynolds gives a pitiful performance which along with a director lacking considerable talent, makes for a waste of time and money.

This isn't very good at all. Bad acting and the story isn't really strong enough. Few funny bits here and there. Its okay I guess - has a bit of heart that doesn't really hold up in the end.

At times pretty funny, but at other times excruciatingly bad. The cast has quite a few respected names in it, and they do a good job to save the whole film from melt-down.

You can almost predict the entire film but overall not too shabby. Annoying clichÃ©s and stereotypes of England and journalists which isn't very fair.

Found it a bit slow going for most of the film, but it made up for itself in the last half hour or so, once they got to playing it for the audience. Enjoyed it but bit disappointed given the calibre of the actors involved.
