This is one of the best documentaries of movie EVEN BETTER than full metal jacket

Morgan Neville's careful, yet intimate look into the life and achievements of the one and only Fred Rogers might be the best documentary I've ever seen, and not just for the truly skilled filmmaking at the center. It's the philosophy of the film's central figure and the truly tear-inducing effects that he had on all the people around him, paired with the filmmaker's unique vision for framing these events that makes it the masterpiece that it is. I hate to be that guy, but this really is a movie that everyone should see, not necessarily to be a better person or anything, but to be reminded that there was and could still be goodness left in this very scary world we live in now.

I loved this film. What a wonderful look at the life of a wonderful man. We only watched this when my children were very little, so I didn't realize that he dealt with so many difficult and heavy topics. His vision was lofty. The sad thing is that overall. I think he failed, to the detriment of all of American society. Makes one wish that a new "Mr. Rogers" would come on the TV scene.

Every person should watch this film, along with all Mr. Rogers episodes. A good balance of Rogers' life, the evolution of the show, and reflections on the purpose of the content provide a loving summary of Rogers' work. My movie-going partner did not grow up in the states, had never seen the show and yet still appreciated the film. One of the most important items addressed was the criticism that Rogers had received for creating a generation of self-centered individuals. The participants in the film successfully clarify how his positive regard was actually modeling that children need to know they are accepted as they are, and that this approach, does in fact not, lead to self-centeredness. Sad that this needed to be explained, I had no idea prior to watching this film that the show had been accused of this. Sweaters, shoes, and neighbors. Go see it.
