Four friends gather at an elegant home during the Summer of Love, 1969. Unbeknownst to them, deadly visitors are waiting outside. Wolves At The Door is a repellent, misconceived, and pointless film.

Most attempts at tension are telegraphed so far in advance, they might as well be stamped with the previous week's postmark, while Cassidy and co are portrayed as such irritating "beautiful people" that some may find themselves reluctant to root for them.

For a gruesome true story about occult murders Wolves At The Door feels more like a slasher film. The Manson Murders is a great plot to really get into the brutality of those deaths and the unimaginable fear the victims must have experienced. Unfortunately though the film is not long enough to completely elaborate on those points even though the performances were fantastic. The little information and real footage displayed at the end were scarier than the entire film.

Wolves at the Door condenses an oft-overlooked American tragedy into a traditional home-invasion slasher flick, and -- despite the absolute best efforts of a talented cast who make the most of their departed real-life beautiful people -- never fully rises above its own tasteless exploitation.
