Winter Vacation (2011)

An ordinary village in Northern China, the last day of the winter vacation. Four idle, aimless adolescents gather at Zhou Zhixin's home, a friend who lives with his father, brother and nephew. Like most contemporary teenagers, these youths want to enjoy their last day of holiday and simply hang out in this place where nothing ever seems likely to happen. Their conversations are desultory and they sometimes seem to argue for argument's sake. One of them, Laowu, talks frankly with his girlfriend about how teenage love might affect their studies, while Laobao questions school's value and relevance to real life.

I loved this film. You have to be patient, which is not an easy accomplishment in our kinetic age. But those who can exercise it will be well-rewarded by a subtle, beautiful, and funny cinematic experience.

The attitude of the film which is trying to tell a story and characters' feelings with as little word as possible gives me a good impression, although it lacks cinematic dynamics in many ways. (@NHK Asian Film Festival 2010)

Tremendamente aburrida a pesar de que me gustÃ³ la fotografÃa. Eso si... opino de la parte de la pelÃcula que no me dormÃ. En medio del festival de cine nos sirviÃ³ a varios de los espectadores para ponernos al dÃa con las horas de sueÃ±o para seguir con el raid cinematogrÃ¡fico...
