Former cop-turned-bar owner Kwok and his underachieving half-brother befriends a drunken woman, they soon find themselves targeted by both her former lover, a high-powered attorney, and the gangster he employs. The car chases and other stunt work are excellent, although there could have been more action, and the downtime scenes of the characters plotting their next move or ruminating on money’s role in moral corruption are fine. But the bottom line is there’s nothing super original here.

While the movie boasts visceral fight scenes, the storyline is so unbelievable, it's hard to connect with the characters.

From the director of such entertaining pictures such as City on Fire, Prison on Fire, and Twin Dragons comes...this? Wild City has a solid cast, but no story. A drunken woman is in trouble after fighting back a rape attempt in a drug deal, and is pursued by out of town thugs. A former cop turned bar owner and his brother must help her, full of sloppy chases and vague themes. The movie feels like its heart is not in it, and overall its a very generic crime thriller with very little suspense or thrills.
