Novalee Nation is a 17-year-old Tennessee transient who has to grow up in a hurry when she's left pregnant and abandoned by her boyfriend on a roadside, and takes refuge in the friendly aisles of Wal-Mart. Eventually, some eccentric but kindly strangers 'adopt' Novalee and her infant daughter, helping them buck the odds and build a new life.

The first time I saw this movie, I was expecting it to be boring, as a friend of mine and I were going to the movies and this seemed to be the best of a bad lot... I was, however, VERY pleasantly surprised!!! It is an extremely sweet, off-beat love story - not your usual 'hollywood flick' which makes for a nice change. Ever since the first time I saw it (back in 2000), it has been one of my favourite movies and after reading the book by Billie Letts - I've come to love it even more!

This is a really cute movie. Although Novalee goes through many trials she gets through all of them with help. I really liked this movie.
