The quiet village of Bramley End is taken over by German troops posing as Royal Engineers. Their task is to disrupt England's radar network in preparation for a full scale German invasion. Once the villagers discover the true identity of the troops, they do whatever they can to thwart the Nazis plans.

Suspenseful and surprisingly (and at times shockingly) violent, "Went the Day Well?" holds up very well decades after its release.

Fantastic, stirring stuff. It's amazing to think that the actor who played the vicar was in one of the earliest films ever made in 1910, while the little boy who saves the day - the only surviving member of the cast - is still working on TV shows today. Watch out for Thora Hurd in her first film role. The actor who played the Nazi commander refused to rerecord some of the dialogue because it would have meant looking at himself on film... he was a member of a religious sect that forbade looking at one's own image.

Hard to believe this was actually made in 1942 whilst the war was still raging. You can see where certain elements of The Eagle Has Landed, have been taken from.
