Viva Riva! (2010)

Riva is a small time operator who has just returned to his hometown of Kinshasa, Congo after a decade away with a major score: a fortune in hijacked gasoline. This imported flick from Africa is basically a scaled down version of 'Scarface' with gasoline instead of cocaine. Though it's still a highly watchable example of Foreign exploitation-- even if the ending feels annoyingly rushed.

[VIDEO]"Viva Riva!" is the kind of fast-and-loose Third World C-movie you'd expect to watch on the 10" screen of an air-conditioned public bus rounding corners on the Karakoram Highway.

Finding it extremely captivating and suspenseful, I highly enjoyed this film. Definitely a ruthless thriller that has no problem depicting reality, no matter how ugly it may be at times. The movie shows the harsh consequences people must pay for when they selfishly try to get to the top, attempting to attain more money and power no matter who they must step over. It shows the poison money can be, and the rash choices people make when left with no better option. Recommendable to anyone who likes gangster/action indie movies, that adds its own personal twist.
