Up the Sandbox (1972)

Bored with day-to-day life in New York City and neglected by her husband, a young wife and mother slips into increasingly outrageous fantasies: her mother breaking into the apartment, an explorer's demonstration of tribal fertility music at a party causing strange transformations, and joining terrorists to plant explosives in the Statue of Liberty.

Bizarre and surreal. And one of Streisand's finest performances.

An ok film and i think Barbras great, but i disliked the film as if was all over the place and hard to keep track of what was reality and what was her imagination!

Loved Barbra of course. And the movie had so much promise and potential - I loved parts of it - loved the messages. But eventually its chaotic nature got me frustrated........

Has anyone seen this movie? Does anyone who has seen this film get it? I didn't think so. However, there are going to be people ( like me ) who are (either a little or a lot) on the artistic or inellectual side who will watch it, be fascinated by it, maybe find some social or artistic merit in it and praise it ... but never watch it again. I think Streisand's fans and the public are more comfortable when she is being humourous or musical, rather than political or profound.
