Tyrannosaur (2011)

The story of Joseph, a man plagued by violence and a rage that is driving him to self-destruction. As Joseph's life spirals into turmoil a chance of redemption appears in the form of Hannah, a Christian charity shop worker. Their relationship develops to reveal that Hannah is hiding a secret of her own with devastating results on both of their lives.

Within the first minute, you know this is going to bleak, but stick with it. Paddy Considine has learned well from Shane Meadows, absolute travesty this wasn't Oscar nominated!

Impressive 90 minutes of footage of a bitter lonely man who seemingly has nothing going for him anymore. One of the most shocking and disgusting relationship situations ever told in film is included as well. The movie should be considered horror rather than drama, ending up like the characters in the movie is much more horrifying than watching scenes of bedrooms with closing doors.

Very gritty, disturbingly so at times. I was expecting a story about someone digging up a fossil or something from the cover. So was totally not expecting the story of Hannah. Joseph is played brilliantly - though I'm glad he lives in the movies and nowhere near me. The twist near the end got me, hear I was thinking that you couldnt get any worse than Joseph and then it all got turned beautifully , in a maccabre kind of beauty, on its head. I loved the film but wouldnt want to watch it again.

Just manages to avoid cheesiness at the end, pulling back just in time. Stunning acting, and a great twist. Go see and support British cinema!

It's very dark, both visibly and narratively, which fits the subject matter perfectly.
