A film about a bloke called Tony. The film begins with Tony walking past a Peacocks clothes store. Thats definately where the similarities end Im afraid. Watched this movie on cable. Wished I hadn't bothered. Tony is a weirdo who murders prostitutes, gays, and a TV licence enforcer. I think Tony is a weirdo. He's been on Jobseekers Allowance forever and lives in a spasely decorated council flat where he spends his time watching action VHS films and ringing porn lines where he fritters away his measly income on pornography. Tony isn't harmless, he is a sadistic masochistic loner with paranoid tendencies and issues! (As I said, the similarities aren't there).

Petit film réussi sur le quotidien d'un tueur en série, Tony, homme chétif et l'air inquiet avec une coiffure à la Forrest Gump (ou Simple Jack), discret et sans histoire. Evidemment, il est loin d'être ce qu'il paraît comme n'importe quel tueur en série qui ne montre qu'une façade aux gens de tous les jours et réserve son vrai visage pour ses victimes. L'approche "réaliste" est bien amenée et enlève tout romantisme et séduction qu'on colle à ce genre de personnes comme si c'était des héros ou des modèles et bien sûr, je ne parle pas de l'excellent prestation de l'acteur principal, à la fois fragile et dangereux. La banalité de son quotidien n'a d'égal que ses pulsions meurtrière qui se manifestent à la moindre frustration, et y'a même une intrigue en parallèle qui agit comme un étau autour de lui pour finalement se désserrer et termine le film comme il a commencé, un homme, qui passe inaperçu et qui pourrait continuer encore longtemps sans être inquiété !

This serial killer flick is about as illuminating and, at times, as unintentionally hilarious as an episode of EastEnders with the succession of working-class stereotypes it throws up.

Here's a grim little film for ya. As the poster suggests, "Tony" is a British answer to Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer. It follows Tony's mundane day-to-day life around the streets of London and inside his small stenchy apartment. He's been unemployed for 20 years and is socially inept. Whoever he comes across he tries to befriend but his inability to relate to them leads him to kill. It's a grizzly and macabre film with a strong underlay of humour. Peter Ferdinado's performance is chilling and flawless and if you know what he looks like in real life, its an amazing transformation and embodiment he's pulled off. If you dig serial killer flicks then this is a great one.
