Tilt (1979)

Tilt is the story of a precocious young girl who is a pinball wizard. Because she does not get on with her parents, Tilt is contemplating running away from home. Skipping school one day, she decides to go to to Mickey's Bar. Mickey, who is Tilt's good friend, helps her set up a gambler for a pinball game. Because the gambler is unaware of Tilt's pinball wizardry, he is easily hustled out of his money. While watching the confrontation, a young man named Neil Gallagher, who is an aspiring musician, is impressed with Tilt's ability, congratulating her after the win. Neil invites Tilt to watch him sing at a rock concert, and after his performance she believes he can become a great singer. Because Neil needs money for a demo tape of his songs, he has an idea of taking Tilt with him and having her hustle would-be gamblers.

A film about a pinball wizard starring Brooke Shields. A relaxing film, not that special.

Ever since I was a young boy I've played the silver ball. From Soho down to Brighton I must have played them all...but I ain't seen nothing like her in any amusement hall. That 14 year old Brooke Shields sure plays a mean pinball Sorta The Hustler lite of the pinball sect I had a lot of fun w/ Tilt but that is probably because I love pinball. Charles Durning has never looked like a bigger piece of shit that either he put on a fuck of a lot of weight or they padded him like crazy as the pinball ace 'The Wale'. Has a great scene w/ Geoffery Lewis as a truck driver that he & Shields have a conversation about sex & drugs & a cameo w/ Fred Ward that I was just happy to see him in this. Truly a movie of its time (sorta like disco or Arcade movies from the 80s) but everyone is likeable especially a very young Brooke Shields. My rating may be a bit high for what it actually is but it sure did put a smile on my face
