At its best, which is often, Their Finest by Danish director Lone Scherfig (“Italian for Beginners;” “An Education”) manipulates appearance and reality, relief and recognition, with exquisite finesse. As befits a film about making films.

Slow at the beginning, builds into a very watchable and likeable film. Gemma Arterton gives a great performance as woman of the period, smart, thoughtful and underpaid! Well acted, nicely done WW2 'period' British film with a few twists.
