Drifter Cole Harden is accused of stealing a horse and faces hanging by self-appointed Judge Roy Bean, but Harden manages to talk his way out of it by claiming to be a friend of stage star Lillie Langtry, with whom the judge is obsessed, even though he has never met her. Tensions rise when Harden comes to the defense of a group of struggling homesteaders who Judge Bean is trying to drive away.

Cooper was good but it should have been more gritty. The scenery was also poor given the wealth of options.

un clÃ¡sico del western. lo mejor, walter brennan haciendo del juez roy bean. Y los diÃ¡logos entre Ã©l y Gary Cooper son antolÃ³gicos. Y todos amamos a Lily Langtry, aunque no la conozcamos... nos sentimos fascinados por ella!!

Classic westerner with great acting based on a true story, with many funny scenes too. One of the best western films I've ever seen and now one of my faves. Essential viewing if you like westerns.

Well done western directed by William Wyler and starring Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan. Cooper did a nice job but Brennan was excellent in a worthy Oscar winning role (his third). I thought it lost some steam near the middle, but the rest of the film was very good and it had a nice ending. I need to check out more films with Brennan, this is only the second one I've seen.
