Steve is a wisecracking carpenter who aspires to be a writer. Zack is a Lebanese-American university student who loves to travel and is fluent in Arabic. Mike is a father who seeks honor and redemption. Each leaves a woman behind - a girlfriend, a mother and a wife. Through their candid footage, these men open their hearts and take us on an unforgettable journey, capturing camaraderie and humor along with the brutal and terrifying experiences they face. An interesting doc. I thought it would be all, you know, "Go America!", but it wasn't. It was an interesting look at war, and what it's doing to all human beings involved - the soldiers, their families, and the citizens of Irak. Because, we are all thinking, feeling, human beings, right?

Decent doc, always nice to have a soldier's POV. Wonder if the boys have lived since it was shot in 2005 and released last year.

Possibly the most compelling work made on the Iraq War, it defies any partisan criticism. It's neither an indictment of the war or an affirmation of it, even as its subjects openly express their thoughts and frustrations. Instead it offers a thorough portrait marked by striking ambiguity.
