In college, Dex was the big man on campus. Ten years later, now an overweight kindergarten teacher, Dex is immune to the shocked stares of the women who were once his conquests. While trying to pick up the bartender, he is struck by the gorgeous Syd. Through a series of circumstances, Syd and Dex are thrown together and he soon finds himself questioning his belief in all things Steve.

this is actually an impressive movie with some interesting, albeit forced, insights. funny, quotable, and somewhat charming, this is a terrific underrated comedy for guys.

I liked this somewhat quirky, down-to-earth, slacker-rom-com. Although it follows the standard rules of the genre it dispenses with the general schmalzy-ness in between and serves up a nice slice of life.

The movie starts out great with some valuable dating philosophy for any guy. But the movie takes a bit of a nose-dive at the end when those philosophies get turned on their head. That said, Tao of Steve is still one of my favorite "underground" movies that I recommend to anyone looking for something new that they haven't heard of before. Before watching this, take a quick read through "The Ladder Theory", you won't regret it.
