A comedy with very few comedic moments. At times, the movie's pace was too slow (needless dialogue cluttered up large portions of the first half) and at other times, it was too fast (five years in jail consisted of a vague montage lasting about thirty seconds). No problem with the acting but the script seemed somewhat all over the place. As I say, for a 'light comedy' I was very unsatisfied and frankly, bored.

One of the best Cagney comedies. Very light indeed. "That's just the kind of a hairpin I am" Amd starring two of the most best deals of the golden age: Rita Hayworth and Olivia DeHavilland.

Quite charming romantic comedy about realizing what you have, set in early 1900s New York. At times it's set up takes longer than serves the pace of the picture. By the end, its heartfelt message carries the day.

A fun little piece of nostalgia. Rita Hayworth is perfect, almost stealing the movie from Cagney and de Havilland.

A completely charming movie from the early 1940's, "The Strawberry Blonde" is both a lesson on just how funny romantic comedies can and should be, as well as being a brilliant example of just what a great actor James Cagney was when he wasn't necessarily in Gangster mode.
