Taken together, the shorts offer some scraps on Berger the man and the artist and thinker without really supplying a full overview, while also exploring some of his main preoccupations in ways that would benefit from at least some prior knowledge of his work.

Tomas Trussow 31 Jan 2017

The Season In Quincy's format is unconventional, but it reflects Berger's wide-ranging interests in such a way that eschews reductionism.

Demetrios Matheou 18 Jun 2017

As Swinton and co gather around the white-haired old chap with gleaming eyes, what's most striking is that the films are not just about him, but how others respond to him.

Kate Muir 21 Jun 2017

These four short films are really aimed at committed worshippers of the revolutionary art critic and writer John Berger, and will be somewhat puzzling -- or perhaps appetite-whetting -- to those coming fresh to the subject.

Wendy Ide 24 Jun 2017

This is a film that celebrates the exchange of ideas, creating a microcosm for independent thought that is every bit as fertile as the fecund mountain farmlands where Berger made his home.
