Solid documentary about the battles going on in Texas about how and what we should teach our children. I'm used to revisionist history (I grew up with it), but I still dislike it in any form. To some extent all history is revisionist (Colbert has one of the best lines in the film when he says history is written by the victors), but we can do better than this.

This is one time Texas can't keep its weird political landscape to itself: What happens in Texas doesn't stay in Texas. When it comes to textbooks, what happens in this state is of national concern. Nothing less than the education of our nation's next generation of citizens is at stake.

Just wow. Watching these whacko Texans rewrite their textbooks led by a guy who refuses to believe in evolution because it's crazy talk, but believes that humans hung out with dinosaurs is spellbinding. This might be the best horror film of the year. The best part is that the director simply filmed these fine folks and let them make fools of themselves for two hours. The worst part is that they really did change the textbooks in Texas.

The Revisionaries is a must-see documentary and yet another example of why religion is a festering tumor on the brain of the civilized world. This is what happens when you teach kids that it's ok to live in whatever reality makes them feel comforted and hopeful. They grow into delusional adults and become state education board members and rob the next generation of a proper education. It's a crime and a vicious cycle that is sick and needs to be stopped. We need to quit perpetuating this irrational idea of respecting other people's beliefs. If a belief is based on absolutely nothing other than faith, IT IS NOT RESPECTABLE, and we need more people to stand up and say so. Watch this film. It is INSANE.

Director Scott Thurman presents a largely even-handed recounting, wisely letting folks - and events - speak for themselves. It's riveting stuff.
