The Otherworld is an original story and mystical tale inspired by Celtic mythology and Irish legends. One of the most fascinating characters in Celtic mythology, the Warrior Lugh, crosses Woodland heading to Tara to join the court of King Nuada and the Tuatha De Danann. Nuada and his kingdom are at this time oppressed by the Fomorian tribe, and trying to retaliate for their land and freedom. During Lugh's travel, he is bewitched by a faerie (Immrama) to a Beltane celebration, when the line between the human and fairy world are vulnerable and Lugh crosses unaware to The Otherworld - the fairy realm. Lugh and Immrama fall in love. However, they live in different times and worlds...

Another great film by Gisela Pereira. While stepping into a more science fiction category, the inspiration from Celtic myths and legends holds true. With warriors, faeries, unicorns, and other mythical creatures, this film is sure to capture the attention of any viewer, and keep you engaged while the movie takes you on a wildly unpredictable journey. Once Lugh crosses into The Otherworld, he is thrown into a completely unfamiliar life. This life is both exciting and threatening, but he will let nothing stand between his love for Immrama. Not only does this movie contain great external conflict (civil war) but there is a great deal of internal conflict between morals within the characters. It is very frowned upon that Lugh has been subjected to The Otherworld, but this does nothing to impair his connection with the world around him. The beautiful forest creates a wonderful setting for this lovely tale. This movie is a great film for the entire family, and serves also as an introduction into Celtic legends.

I stumbled across this movie and was very surprised with how much I enjoyed it, there's very few pagan movies out there. Being Irish I was excited to see a movie about the mythology surrounding my heritage, the film blends Celtic and pagan folk tales and myths into it's on unique story. It's not something I know much about and despite being a romantic action movie (and a good one at that) it also educated me haha. Not something you expect normally. I particularly enjoyed the Druid, the character design stood out and the way he seemed to be behind the destiny of the story, weaving the story to push the characters to their end goal of happiness was inspiring. Lugh's battle leading the painted Irish against the supernatural demons was reminiscent of the film Braveheart, if you had replaced the British with something much scarier. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in Celtic or Pagan stories.

In a day and age where so many movies are starting to look, feel and sound the same - "The Otherworld" is a refreshing and welcome change! This movie is truly enchanting from beginning to end, and I love how the movie moves from romance, to whimsical and to adventure. (Speaking of adventure, there is a really good fight scene toward the end of the movie that I was totally NOT expecting out of a Celtic Fairy Tale! Truly entertaining!) The storyline is unlike anything else that's out there right now, lots of great characters and depth, and the scenery and special effects were an added bonus. This movie has also introduced me to Gisela Pereira, who not only stars in The Otherworld, but she also directed it (she heads Gisela Productions). I'm surprised I haven't heard of her until now. She is no doubt a rising star to look out for! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more from Gisela, and from her company - please let there be a sequel!

This film is truly a breath of fresh air in a cinematic industry that has long been plagued with "cookie cutter" films. Captivating from the start, the multidimensionality of this movie is bar none. Ranging from comedy, to romance, adventure, and everything else in between, this movie does a wondrous job of providing cinematic elements that all movie watchers can enjoy. The characters have so much depth and the impeccable imagery of the landscape and costumes portray an honest representation of Celtic culture. Kudos to Gisela Pereira for crafting such a wonderfully made and enjoyable movie. I will be definitely looking out for future works of hers. Having been to many countries across the globe. If this movie has taught me anything it's that I think Ireland is going to have to be my next stop!

The Otherworld- A Celtic Fairytale tells the story of Lugh who after being enchanted by a fairy unwittingly crosses to the Otherworld where he falls in love with Immrama. The film is an exquisitely told story of forbidden love set in a magical world. The charisma of the two leads brings the story to life and they are able supported by a cast of lively and diverse characters (including my personal favourite Gwydion). If the story and the characters aren't enough to get you hooked the stunning scenery certainly is. This is a story for the ages, for all ages. Fantastic.
