slow and overly dramatic but Connery gives one of his best performances and that alone is worth the watch.

A deeply disturbing movie with a helluva troubled performance from Sean Connery. I can't remember a time in which I had more trouble watching a movie because it made me feel so darn uncomfortable. The conversation between Connery and his wife...the stuff he says to her is just so awful. And the final flashback interogation scene was almost too much to bear for me. It's not to say that this was not a good movie, I think it was...but, it played hell with my emotions and left me feeling profoundly sad. Need to watch something uplifting now. Not VF.

This is without a doubt one of Sir Sean Connery's greatest films. It's a look at police brutallity in the 1970s. Connery plays his best character ever in this film! A corrupt police seargent who's seen too much. He finally snaps in an interview where he brutally attacks and later kills a man in questioning for a child molestation case. Brilliant and well thought out, The Offence is a classic!!

A British cop that has seen too much finally snaps. I'm sure this really packed a punch 40 years ago, but now it seems a bit more ordinary. Still a fascinating artifact. Lumet's atypical over-stylized direction detracts from some great acting.

Connery gives an exceptional performance in one of his lesser known works, which is a shame as it needs more recognition.
