The Noose Hangs High (1948)

Two window washers who are mistaken by Nick Craig, a bookie, as the messengers he sent for to pick up $50,000. Now the person he sent them to sent two of his men to get the money back but they found out about it. So they try to mail to Craig but a mix up has the money sent somewhere else and the woman who got it spent it. Now Craig needs the money to pay off one of his clients.

Abbott & Costello accidently get hired to collect money for a gangster, & Costello ends up mailing the money to someone else, when he thought he mailed it to the gangster, because the boys were being chased by rival gangsters. They end up having to track down the money & return it. Good fun with plenty of laughs.

This is a very funny Abbott and Costello movie. Of course they usually are always funny. This time the guys get mistaken for messengers and lose $50,000 for a mob bookie. He wants the money back in 36hrs or he will kill the guys. This of course leads to many funny situations. Abbott and Costello are very funny. I laughed many times watching this. Great comedy dialogue and physical humour. These two know how to get a great laugh. Well worth a watch.

This was my first taste of Abbott and Costello. I have no idea where this film ranks among all of their other films, but the plot was interesting and it was funny in all the right spots. The only problem I see with their humor is that they spend too much time on the same joke and it starts to get annoying.

This is the first film of Abott and Costello that I have seen, and frankly, I wasn't very impressed. The story was all over the place with various comedy sketches sprinkled in between -- some more clever than others.
